Breastfeeding for Social Change

The MBRRACE Report showed that maternal and infant mortality is much higher in Black, Brown and marginalised families, and that maternal mortality among Black mothers in the U.K. is FIVE TIMES higher than it is among white mothers.

I find these numbers shocking, they are a call to action for every one of us to do our bit to address them.

Breastfeeding is a powerful way to combat many of the inequalities in maternal and infant health – and it is core to Holding The Baby’s mission to work to ensure that as many families as possible can access the skilled support that they need.

Each month, I will offer one of my Natural Breastfeeding Packages FREE of charge to a Black, Brown and marginalised family. I am currently accepting referrals from NHS professionals and independent midwives.
